Corten, colour consultants and city colour palettes

Exploring rust-inspired palettes and more

This month we delve into colour palettes for cities, and gain some tips from a colour consultant for working with colour in the built environment. We talk to an Axalta expert about the popularity of the ‘corten look’ before travelling to France and Belgium to visit projects featuring earth-inspired hues.

Mamu Architects, Belgium

?Rust and other earth-inspired colour palettes

We learn about the advantages and disadvantages of using Corten and rust-effect powder coatings, in an interview with Phil Fisk from Axalta UK . Exploring this palette further, MaMu Architects explain how they used an earth-toned colour palette to transform a vast Belgium warehouse depot into a vibrant mixed-use business park.

We also interview architects Brenac & Gonzalez & Associés about how they harnessed corten-look powder coatings to complement the rustic, earthy quality of a 1983 Marc Held building.
