Corruption in sub registrars offices – A bigger threat than China?

Many areas corruption is on its way out with technology replacing the need for interaction. In taxes slowly changing. The days of the demi god taxman may not last long.

I wish to share my shame- Yesterday – a day when I was ashamed of what I have become. Talking of ethics on one side and being forced to bow and scrape in front of bandicoot, thugs and menails who have only money making as the end. THE SUB REGISTRARA OFFICE WHERE NOTHING IS FREE. NO WORK CAN BE DONE BY YOU WHETHER YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL OR EVEN AN ADVOCATE.

ONLY THE BROKER CAN GET ANYTHING DONE.

We have and organisation for supporting some of the economically challenged children in 4 schools. 3 of them Govt schools and one private one with fees very very low fees. Due to need for change in signature for bank purpose the trust deed to be amended for trustees who were actually not been involved for decades. The trust has no expenditure other than statutory related for past decade. After a staff ran around for 4 months, we contacted a “broker” and got it done yesterday afternoon at Jayanagar, 4th Block.

The covid spreading centre had an even worse smell of decay- touts walking around without masks, half mask. The amount of paper carrying brokers- with the clerks acting like they were the wealth creators of the nations….. I am sure almost any wealthy man in India must have gone thru. I felt sick of what we continue to put up with and have become.

We want India to be a superpower, we want reforms. However though the 5 people including our driver, staff who had gone to sign after thumb impression and a wait of more than 1 hour wanted to have a bath to get rid of our shame. WE of course signed the document and then the xeroxes in 20 different places.

Every person involved got an OTP. Then why we are required to go to that office. Every record is scanned. Why can it not be without any interaction.

The fact is that we did not interact with any of the officers there. The broker only spoke. Then why our presence is required?????????

Just so the process is so that monies get collected to pay for the transfers or haftas to the political powers.

This cancerous disease can be removed by scrapping this physical office. Let it become totally technological infrastructure driven.

I was telling my co trustee- maybe we should give up the 80G and just pay the taxes to the Govt. even if it meant double taxation to avoid such an unpleasant situation.

It is time to scrap the physical sub registrar's office and replace it fully with technology. I hear crores are paid to get plum postings to this den of corruption. SHOULD WE CONTINUE TO SUBJECT THE INDIAN CITIZEN AND THE FOREIGNERS WHOM WE INVITE TO INVESTING IN INDIA TO THIS IGNOMITY AND SHAME?

Penned this with a hope that this gets forwarded to every citizen of India who is fed up with this office and its dirty ways & the State govt. across India take up this reform fast.

Corruption is ingrained in our burocracy and political system, unless these two are thoroughly revamped, the story will go on like this.

Strongly feel - Corruption is in the process of getting wiped out......the process starts from within and the process has begun. We are all doing our bit. Internally, all of us are getting better and less corrupt Indians. These corrupt *%$#@%^ will soon be totally eradicated, wiped out. Thank you for this post! This is helping that process of cleansing.
