Corrupt malpractices should be timely tackled

Pakistan, a country facing economically challenging times, continues to grapple with pervasive malpractices that are hindering its progress. The nation's high unemployment rate is further exacerbated by the rampant practice of granting authoritative positions based on bribery rather than merit, thus jeopardizing the integrity of its institutions. Amidst this environment, I myself have witnessed a particularly alarming case that serves as a cautionary tale. Despite these difficulties, Pakistan's resilient people continue to work towards a better future, and it is crucial that we address these issues in order to create a fair and prosperous society for all.

I am sharing this story to highlight a troubling incident that occurred during the recruitment process for the Anti Narcotics Force. My friends and I decided to appear for the Assistant Sub Inspector test, despite not having completed our degrees, as a learning experience. While I was rejected for the ASI post during a physical test, my friends were able to pass and proceeded to take the written test. In my case, I had also applied to another post, and it so happened that we all had our written test on the same day and time as the ASI candidates.

During the exam at Hockey Stadium Karachi, a person was caught cheating with a mobile phone within the examination hall premises. We were surprised to find that the person caught cheating was Rehman Khan s/o Akbar Khan, who was serving as a driver at the Regional Directorate Sindh and had a reputation for being corrupt. Despite being caught red-handed, he was still awarded the ASI position, which suggests that he had bribed someone in power.

As responsible citizens, we believe it is our duty to protect the integrity of institutes and highlight such issues. This incident raises serious questions about the meritocracy in the recruitment process and the transparency of the system. It is deeply concerning that the rightful candidate was denied the position, while an undeserving person was awarded it through corrupt means. The issue was also shared with the honorable Director General Major General Aneeq ur Rehman (HI)M.

Furthermore, this incident is particularly concerning given the challenging times our country is currently facing. If people can buy authoritative positions through bribery, what is the use of educating our youth and promoting meritocracy? This is a betrayal of the blood and sacrifices of the freedom fighters, ghazis, mujahideen, and shuhadas who fought for our country.

We demand that action be taken against Rehman Khan s/o Akbar Khan and an inquiry be conducted to identify those who tried to degrade the integrity of the institute. He should be blacklisted for life and terminated from his position as a lesson to others. We hope that the authorities will take this matter seriously and uphold the principles of meritocracy and integrity.

I totally agree with you... these malpractices should timely be tackled... the authorities should deeply dive into this matter as this questions the meritocracy of the department.
