The correlation between attending the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show and getting back into motorcycling

I recently got back into motorcycling but I also nearly convinced myself otherwise; there was just too much to it. I'd have to get a new helmet, tires, battery, gear, electronics, etc. It had been quite some time since I last put miles on my bike and it just seemed like more of a hassle to get back into it.

When I heard the news, months ago, that I would be attending the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show I frankly had mixed emotions. The thought of prepping for this event, taking all of the necessary precautions and attending a crowded, international based trade show event just seemed a very daunting proposition to wrap my head around. That being said, I also envisioned how great it would once again feel to get right back on that bike after two years of dormancy. The thought of having the opportunity to meet with partners, customers, constituents from nearly three decades of being in the CE industry was enticing, invigorating.

Now with my feet firmly planted in Las Vegas prepping for the show, I just received an unexpected Dopamine boost, the same boost that riders get from cruising through an uncrowded mountain pass or alongside an Ocean vista. I witnessed my team doing their thing, being experts in their craft and contributing to the elevation and growth of our brand. This sense of euphoria caught me by surprise as it had been about two years since I last experienced them doing great things, in the flesh. However productive video conferencing technologies are, this visceral experience of feeling proud about your team can only really be, in my humble opinion, experienced in person. Ergo, I'm very glad that we're all here at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show together and we'll certainly take every possible precaution to make sure that we're activating our '22 lineup in the most safe manner.

I recently picked up additional riding gear that will permit me to ride my bike throughout the Winter in moderate comfort. While the most comfortable option would be to stay at home, binge watching something, I realize that what my current state needs is to once again experience what cannot be replicated sitting on a couch.

I look forward to seeing those that made the journey to Vegas at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show.

Great to hear you are back on the road. Let's connect for a ride sometime. I'm done riding when it's icy, so we'll have to wait for spring....

Great post Bill. The obvious confluence of these two experiences is that, next year, you need to ride your motorcycle *to* CES. It worked for Neil Peart for 40 years! Happy New Year and wishing you huge success in 2022.

Bill your story reminded me of my love for the open road on 2 wheels and the tech in my life 24/7. I’ve been in the electronic security industry for 40 years and a motorcycle rider for 40 years. I had the amazing joy of combining the two while in Vegas at the annual ISC Conference. I rented a new model motorcycle from one of favorite brands and set out on a day trip to Lake Havasu to see an old friend. The few hours away from the convention floor was excellent therapy and a boost of energy for me when I arrived back at the convention for an evening meeting. Please continue to simply enjoy life. Phil

So well said! Have a great show!
