Corrective strength for the Pre Turn
This is a great exercise for all bowlers. It's a massive exercise that would fall into the Special Preparatory exercise category (SPE) as well as part of your RAMP warm up pre game.
Hip internal rotation is key for an effective pre turn [squaring your hips up and producing a strong hip/shoulder separation] and it's where you get the pace from. Seriously you may be as strong as an ox on a squat or any other compound lift but if you are weak around hip internal rotation due to a technical /motor learning inefficiency or physical weakness then you will not transfer momentum through the crease.
Hip internal rotation= forceful rotation of torso = Torque. Hip shoulder separation makes up 70-80% of bowling speed.
This exercise is an awesome example of CORRECTIVE STRENGTH training.
