Is it correct to call Synchronisation of Transformers?

First of all, let us get into the etymology of the term "synchronization". 

The term 'Syn' means 'same' (as in 'Synonym' - 'of the same name/meaning) and the term 'chrono' means 'time' (as in 'chronograph', what we incorrectly call as watch or clock). So, the term 'synchro' means 'happening at the same time'; the term 'synchronization' means 'making to happen at the same time'. 

Thus, in rotating machines like generators, if parameters do not 'happen at the same time', we can easily manipulate either the governor (for frequency) or the excitation (for Voltage) to make them 'happen at the same time'. Thus, the term 'synchronization' is more opt with rotating machines like generators. 

Whereas, in static equipment like transformers, though one can manipulate the voltage to an extent, manipulating frequency is not possible cost effectively. So, it is practically very difficult & costly to 'make things happen at the same time' in static equipment like transformers.

Thus, the term 'Synchronization' is a little out of place, with transformers. So, a more opt terminology - 'parallel operation' - is used with transformers.
