Corporate Lies - Selling a False Narrative

Corporations have done an excellent job of selling narratives that give them the upper hand and grace when things go wrong. We as consumers are subjected to this type of corporate information peddling. Correlation proves true that if there is dishonesty and hiding of truths within a company, the same behavior is reflected outside to the end customer.
I have seen this many times internally within a company when an individual hoards information from the rest of the staff and it creates a space where no one can hold the individual accountable. Even management does not have the full scope of the picture and therefore can not appropriately address the issue. Where there is an imbalance of information the PR spin can be anything from routine jargon to quite a colorful and fantastic story.
It absolutely benefits a company to have a poorly educated consumer. When business practices get into a gray area, it is difficult to hold a corporation accountable. We must be savvy, do our research and consult experts.

In my experience, it takes a large customer to not just complain but threaten a company to break through and affect change. These customers have the courage to take on a loss to ensure they are taken care of. The end result is not the altruistic pursuit of truth, it is the expectation that they are delivered the goods and services as promised. The act of remediation does not depend on the truth. Truth sometimes can be collateral damage.
The importance of the truth is part of the journey not the end destination. Facts keep the narrative held to the truth. It creates space for accountability. But the outcome is dependent on expectations for what resolution means in each individual case. This is why outcomes for the same problem can vary widely.
In my younger days, I believed the pursuit of the truth alone was the highest outcome. I naively believed that the truth would compel people to behave better. Today, I believe that the pursuit of the truth is a tool used to forge positive outcomes. It is what you do with the truth and the outcome you seek that has value.

1 年Alice this is a good example of a bad group dynamics and leadership. Bad decisions are being made inside of a box because all the individuals on the team are not talking sharing and analyzing information to come up with the best solution to rectify this problem. The result is your taking a stance to make them do what is right.
