The Corporate Ladder - an outdated jargon.

I was recently watching this show called "The Bold Type" on Netflix. If you have watched this show and if you are a woman I am sure you must have felt for a second that you are one of the characters and admire them more. I love Jacqueline she is the most amazing leader I have seen..I know I know it's a fiction show but still...
Anyway, Let me not deviate from what I am trying to focus on here. It was the last season when Jane- one of the employees ( Intern turned employee) was given an opportunity to take the position of Editor In Chief and run the show. Eventually, she turned down that opportunity just because she realized she is more passionate about writing and she wants to become a writer.
I know you might not be able to relate completely but it's like you are given a great opportunity at your job but you turn it down because you know you are really great at doing one particular thing and you don't want to take that big position which seems glorious just because you want to do the work you enjoy doing the most.
Why are we so conditioned as a professional or as an employee that we feel our success is measured only if we climb the corporate ladder upwards?

The sooner the better, We should accept the change the technology has created in organizations or in general in a business ecosystem. I see every day the millennials and Gen Z running the Instagram pages and fulfilling 100s of orders daily. They are the goddam CEOs of their businesses and they haven't yet finished their education.
So if you are still crying for that promotion you want or that promotion you don't want. IT'S OKAY! You just do what you love doing.
Let's embrace this change and let's change with the changing time!
