The Corporate Conflicts in Pan India is a reality now and it is going to get more and more challenging and fierce. We all have read a lot about abrupt replacement of Senior Leaders like Anant Gupta from HCL Tech and Cyrus Mistry from Tata's. Leadership is a vast outlook of a person with a set of Cultural values and sensitivity towards emotions and overall persona which is always Challenged by the Management & Board Of Directors in particular and local administration of the Corporate house in general.
Leader should have a pulse on the overall sentiments and outlook of the shareholders and legacy of the Corporate house. The tug of war is most of the time evident as no two people think alike and will always have their own analysis /understanding / judgement for any case study. It is quiet evident that the differences will occur for performance and growth with productivity and globalization going on simultaneously.
No matter what ever be the circumstances for the Power Struggle two things are increasingly apparent :
- It is important for the head of the company to take the stakeholders along and gain their support for his decisions or plans.
- Leader has to be more and more performance oriented rather than relying solely on loyalty or alignment to a select group.
The Corporate houses in India are not new to the intrigue and conflict, but the latest conflict in Tata's has shaken the Indian Corporate houses. We as a Leader of any company or a Corporate House are required to understand and appreciate the dignity of Company always comes first followed by people in the company and leader is at the bottom of this pyramid. The conflict arises once we start thinking that Leader's are whole sole representative of the dignity, moral values and the growth per se of the company. Leader has to take the dignity and honor of the company with that of the employee's first and foremost while delivering for the shareholders.
Leadership Style of any leader is also required to sync in with company ethos and stakeholders priorities which can't be compared with Individual Leadership ambitions. It takes years to built empires and which can't be allowed to go downside and perish or take a beating in Societal domains. We all will see a lot of deliberation on the subject in day's to come as the present conflict in Tata's will take a lot of time to settle and negativity to subside.
