Coronavirus, about time to learn from China!!

I think it is about time for us in Europe to learn from the Chinese the management and containment the #Coronavirus. China new infections are declining significantly and almost new infections come from outward of China.

If you think of China population of 1.4 Billion i.e. 1400 Million and how they managed to contain the virus compared to Europe with a population of 400 Million only and struggling. No streamline plans or advise so far.

I have been disheartened hearing about the major spread of the virus but most importantly the toll death in Italy reaching 107 yesterday (5th March 2020) evening in such a short span of time. Here is a link for recent figures updates from the Italian government.

This is how they managed it "first hand from a non-Chinese friend living in China".

My friend lives in a Guangdong province adjacent to the virus birthplace Wuhan city's province.

My friend was on a holiday in his homeland since Christmas and hence he returned to China just last week.

First the flight, he used one of China airlines, as the airlines travelling to China these days are few, so options are very limited. First, no food onboard the flight to eliminate any chance of virus distribution so usually flights takes 11 to 16 hours or so, you have to bring your own food with you.

The authorities monitor all arriving passengers and document where they will be staying. If at some point someone from that flight later appears the symptoms and tested positive for Coronavirus then they will contact all the passengers to quarantine for 14 days.

Once you are in China, you have to be wearing the face mask all the time you are out and about. Including in taxis. You are not allowed to take it off. Just worth mentioning here that the mask does not protect you from the virus, but help to protect others from you.

At the entrance for any residential or industrial building, they check your temperature with the infrared thermometer. Anyone with high temperature will be put into quarantine for 14 days. All taxi drivers got a thermometer to check your temperature.

There are groups on the street's entrances, appears to be volunteers and not military, again with a thermometer to check your temperature. Even if you are riding a taxi, they still stop the taxi and check the passengers and taxi driver temperature.

It is this way where everyone is cooperating that you can beat the virus. Chinese people declared war on the Coronavirus and I have to say they are wining it. They struggled, China been in lockdown for over 2 months now, but they are persisting in ending it.

In the western world, all we hear about is empty shop shelves of cleaning products and food. Governments have to step up to the challenge.

I think we people have to do the simple things to try to contain the virus. Following NHS Scotland leaflets advice -opposite- for example. Do not spread your sneeze or cough, always wash your hand. Commonsense.

I decided to conclude this article with a positive note. Apparently rising temperature will kill the virus, Sars which was the much stronger one, also disappeared with the rising temperature. Apparently children seem not to be infected by it (didn't hear of any child being infected).
