It has been more than 3 months since the globe has been taken over by the pandemic called Covid-19. Stories and theories in movies and novels have become a reality now. In hindsight many including myself would claim that such an event was waiting to happen. But, it looks like events like these will be a new norm for which countries, businesses and people across the globe need to be prepared for.
We are now weeks into lockdown and this will continue further. People are facing turmoil on multiple fronts- Business, Job, access to basic essentials, social life and these uncertainties will keep hurting us for quite some time. This extraordinary once in a lifetime event has made many of us sit back and have different perspectives about life. These are few of my personal realisations: `
- Spending enough time with Family and Friends should no longer be an option for one to strive for but, a priority in life
- Be Thankful to the real heroes - Doctors, nurses, police, delivery boys, guards, your local stores and many more such unsung heroes
- We should always have a contingency plan in form Savings, food and other essentials at home
- There can always be a first time in life - Many of us are forced or by choice have started to do few firsts in life like exercise, cooking, washing, cleaning etc. Many of these starts should continue beyond Coronavirus era
- Start back your hobbies and make it part of your life again: With new found time in life many have gone back to hobbies like drawing, singing, painting, reading, writing etc. This one event has made the uncertainties in life so evident that, postponing something which you love for tomorrow may not be a good idea. I am personally getting back to writing
- Sometimes one can be a hero by not acting as a hero - Majority of us have shown exemplary discipline by staying at home and playing our part in controlling the spread of the virus. Similarly a large part of our life is similar to that of a worker bee, where we are expected to remain focussed and work as part of larger teams to get work done. A team that works together wins together
- Be Thankful to what you have in life
- Everyday is first day for rest of your life, so learn to live without past baggage as it will make your present much better
Currently no one knows with absolute certainty when this menace will be curbed but, hopefully with advanced science and technology we may see light at the end of the tunnel sooner than later.
“This Time Shall Pass and Life Will Move on” - Hope and inherent survival instincts make all of us human beings different and we will fight it out to live another day. Hopefully after we conquer Covid-19 and move on, some of us will have realigned priorities in life.

4 年The meaning of essential has been redefined by this - but will the learnings stick or will we be back to business as usual when this ends? That is something which is hard to predict.

4 年Very nicely written. I learned that we as human can live easily so minimally. Now am realizing that the earlier expenses that we had was more on life style but real needs are actually very less

Well said Ranjit, I agree with you, these times have thought great lessons to every person and humanity as a whole. But that said, humans have the habit of quickly forgetting and moving on with life, I hope things change for good.?
