Coronavirus: Life As We Know it Has?Changed.

Coronavirus: Life As We Know it Has?Changed.

Change, adapt and thrive even with covid!

When the coronavirus hit the world hard in the very first months of 2020, everyone was scared, dreams shattered and hope almost lost.

Most people thought they were going to die sooner or later creating a lot of panic and fear in the system. Hospitals were choked with people who didn't even have symptoms of covid but feared they had contracted the virus.

Life isn't going back to normal, and we need to understand, accept and internalise that fact. Things seem normal now so quite a lot of people are relaxing their guards allowing the virus to stage a second wave. We all need to adhere to the protocols if we hope to get back to another “normal”. But I do not believe we can go back to what we used to call normal before it hit.

It may seem like you do not have a lot of control beyond following the protocols. This is even truer when we consider the dreams the virus shattered, the businesses it killed, the hopelessness it brought. Many people are passing away and no one knows if they'll be next. But beyond these things that you do not control, you still have control concerning a lot of things.

Even before the virus, you didn't have control over everything but you thrived, you did well and was experiencing progress in your life. It is time to take back the little control you gave away to the virus and see that you are more capable and the virus can only slow you down but not stop you. For some people, 2020 was a great year even though covid hit. Some people started successful businesses, experienced more growth, gained more into the art of living, built great relationships, got married — all in 2020.

2021 is the year you determine it to be. It is sad how people said without a preview of 2021, they aren't going and a whole lot of bad tweets about 2020. As much as the year was bad, we need to focus on the good things and be grateful for them because our mood and focus determine how we view the future. If we see this new year with despair, we are likely to have that as our personal reality. This will affect your expectations thus you set low expectations. Your expectations will determine your plans for the year which will likely be nothing at all like most people do.

Taking a decision that this year is going to be a good year could be the best decision you make this year. It isn't just about saying it though. You need to internalise it, accept that you play the biggest role in how the year turns out for you and then take control of whatever you plan on doing this year.

We aren't going back to normal. What we can do is to work toward a better new normal which would be free of all forms of pandemics and also to fortify our lives against unforeseen events.

You can do it, You know you can — Take action now and you will thank yourself for believing that you can begin to build the life you want right now.
