CoronaVirus Infection

Latest Update- Just over a month after the first reports of a novel coronavirus spreading in China, researchers say they have used artificial intelligence to identify a drug already on the market that might limit the virus’s spread (Lancet 2020, DOI: 10.1016/S0140-6736(20)30304-4)

Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV)A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans.

Coronaviruses are zoonotic, meaning they are transmitted between animals and people. Detailed investigations found that SARS-CoV was transmitted from civet cats to humans and MERS-CoV from dromedary camels to humans. Several known coronaviruses are circulating in animals that have not yet infected humans.

Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, the infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and even death.

Standard recommendations to prevent infection spread include regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, thoroughly cooking meat and eggs. Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.

I know its a "hoax" but some people gave theories on Wuhan virus being a bioweapon that got leaked from a lab. GreatGameIndia has reported that British intelligence was responsible for the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 over Ukraine in 2014 began publishing reports last week claiming that Canadian researchers had sold this strain of coronavirus to China. I am not interested in such baseless claims as of now considering the impact the illness is having on people's lives.

This is the photo of a thermal scanner installed in a mall in Bangkok. These scanners are useless during the up 14 day incubation period during which the individual is contagious without running a fever or showing any other symptoms. Making people think that these thermal imagers can protect against the new Coronavirus is really just smoke and mirrors.
