Where to spend the Coronation in London?
The Coronation of King Charles III will be taking place on Saturday 6th May 2023 and thousands of people will be lining the streets of London to witness such an momentous event in history. The royal family will begin a procession from Buckingham palace arriving at Westminster Abbey at 11am.? Following?the ceremony, the?procession will take place heading back to the palace, where the King and Queen consort will conclude the celebration on the Buckingham palace balcony.?
The Coronation is the ceremony during which the sovereign is crowned, this is the physical act of placing a crown on the monarch's head. It also is a symbolic religious ceremony as it formalises the monarch's role as the head of the church of England and marks the transfer of their titles and powers.??
The celebrations for the Coronation will be taking place all weekend across the whole of the Uk and Monday the 8th will be a bank holiday.??

The Rubens at the Palace?
The Rubens at the Palace is located a stone's throw away from Buckingham palace, if you want to be close to the parade and in the heart of the celebrations this is the place to stay. From the 1st May to the 1st August they are hosting Coronation themed afternoon teas, this will be a decadent 6 courses including; cakes, pastries and sandwiches. Leading up to the Coronation on the 4th of May they are hosting a Coronation Indian feast followed by live music. On the 5th May they are hosting a Coronation Lanson Dinner, this will be a lavish 7 course dinner with a champaign pairing.???

The Ritz?

The Ritz overlooks London's Green Park and is along the procession route for the Coronation.?They are hosting a Coronation Ball; the evening will begin with a champagne and canape reception, followed by an impressive five-course dinner with matching wines in their Michelin Star restaurant. The entertainment for the evening will be the London dance orchestra followed by a performance from the BBC big band.??

The Savoy is a renowned hotel in London which overlooks the Thames and is just a short distance from Westminster Abbey. A great place to stay to be close to the coronation parade and ceremony. For the whole month of May, the front hall of the Savoy will be transformed into an English garden and they will be hosting coronation afternoon teas. On the day of the Coronation the Savoy are hosting a street party with Nyetimber. They will be serving food including sandwiches, delicate pastries, a Victoria sponge cake and festive bubbles. The travelling hands, a great band will be performing for the event. The Nyetimber bus will be parked outside the front of the savoy, from the 5th- 7th May and you can book to sit on the top deck and enjoy a 45 tasting of their English sparkling wines.??

The Landsborough overlooks the Buckingham palace gardens and is in the center of all the celebrations. The Landsborough is offering an innovative 5 course meal, showcasing the finest foods of the modern British Isles. The menu will feature some of the Kings personal favorites as well as the best sustainable, artisanal produce the British Isles has to offer.

The Four Seasons?

The Four Seasons is located right next to the Tower of London and the River Thames, just a short distance from the procession route. They are hosting a Crown Jewels afternoon tea, this will consist of finger sandwiches, scones and delicious pastries inspired by the treasures of the Tower of London and the upcoming Coronation, one of the deserts will be molded based of the crown of St Edward which will be used at the Coronation and can be enjoyed with tea or champagne.??

Claridge's?

Claridge's is located in Mayfair, a short distance from Westminster Abbey. They have had a history of hosting royalty and have many treasures in their archive. Claridge's will be hosting a royal showcase for the whole month of May. Kate Hudson, Claridge's archivist has created archive windows which focus on the coronation and feature royal mementoes for the hotel's 200-year history including pages from queen Victoria's diary. A new color portrait of the king will also be unveiled, created by their artist in residence David Downton.??
