Corona Made Me Do It!!

This mess is crazy! I remember having a conversation with our office manage at the beginning of the year. She had some personal things going on in her life and she made a comment I will never forget. "I had such high hopes for 2020 and were only 4 days in and it's S%*^." Now this was MONTHS before life as we knew it ended. We laughed about that comment at the moment but her unknowing prophecy actually came true. Fast forward 3 months and I have been sent home to work. We are having our weekly events team meeting and our national director breaks the news that the entire events department would be furloughed. Most of you have no idea what I do/did. I was the event manage for my company in Alabama. My entire job was to attend trade shows, home shows, festivals and get as many people to set appointments as possible. We had just come out of home show season and one of our goals in Alabama was to set so many appointments that the company would have to hire more factory reps. We achieved that goal! I was riding high and then that meeting happened. I, like everyone else, was devastated. Little did I know what was in store for me and my family.

I am the bread winner in my family and we have 4 kids. Being furloughed WAS NOT an option so I leaned into my situation. Our company was deemed an essential business as we are in the home construction business. So I called everyone I knew all the way up to the VP of the company and requested to be transferred to sales. After about 3 days of selling myself to the hire ups, I found my self in a two week training course to prepare me to be a factory rep. I was scared to death not knowing what the next few months held. Would people buy in this contraction economy? Would the company make it? We were MILLIONS in the red. At this point, I committed to success. I live by this quote from Grant Cardone: Success is my duty, obligation, and responsibility. Failure was not an option for me.

You have a power in you that when unleashed, can do AMAZING things. I didn't realize what this power was doing up until about 3 days ago. By leaning into my situation and making a commitment to succeed I found myself making more money than I ever have before. I have seen success at a level I didn't know possible. You see, corona made me do it! 2020 has turned out to be the best year of my life and had corona not happened I would have never jumped into a commissioned role. I have never been happier. My family has never been happier.

I believe that your attitude and perspective have EVERYTHING to do your success. I could have taken the victim mentality but I chose to take the challenge and raise it! This is an unprecedented situation we find ourselves in, but I encourage you to lean in to your situation. Find ways to make the rest of 2020 your best year ever! Be encouraged! I'm pulling for you.
