Large UAV makes history flying from Cornwall landing on Royal Navy carrier at sea
A pilotless plane has flown on and off a Royal Navy aircraft carrier for the first time.?The W Autonomous Systems drone flew from the Predannack airfield on the Lizard Peninsula, Cornwall and on to the deck of HMS Prince of Wales off the Cornish coast, delivered supplies, then flew back in a milestone flight which points the way to the future of naval aviation.? Charles Scales , Co-Founder of W Autonomous Systems, added: “Landing on a moving naval carrier was the ultimate test and our autonomous heavy-lift?drone passed with flying colours.” The trials off Cornwall were the first stage of an autumn programme pushing the boundaries of naval aviation”
Cornish innovation technology company eyes global growth with £600k investment
A high-tech Cornish company that is using space technology to protect cash and high value assets for customers around the world has secured a £600,000 investment to support further growth. Working with the European Space Agency - ESA , Secure Innovation has developed a low earth orbit satellite system called Remote Planet that can track, monitor and protect people, cash and assets anywhere on earth.?Saltash-based Secure Innovation employs more than 100 people at its Cornwall factory including a team of 30 highly-skilled research and design engineers developing cutting-edge cash protection products and remote asset management services.?
