Core Values

Core Values

Jacob Fork River flows peacefully through the campsites at South Mountains State Park. This flow provided the perfect backdrop for reflection on my core values, I was encouraged by Roger Seip and his book Train Your Brain for Success to take dedicated time to think, evaluate, and define my core values. The process involves narrowing the hundreds of possibilities down to 6 words that embody your core values and then define what that means to you. Reviewing these core values is part of my morning routine now, it provides centering before the chaos invades the day...in case you are interested, here are my core values and how I define each:

1. Faith: Believing in what is not visible today. Commitment to God through trusting in His unique and perfect (not easy) plan for my life and for the lives of those around me.

2. Relationship: A connection between two parties; people to people, people to organizations, families, and teams. Real relationships involve sacrificial giving, not to receive, but to enable others, which strengthens the relationship. The stronger the relationship, the more value for all.

3. Authenticity: Representing one's true nature or beliefs. Being who you are no matter the circumstances. Seeking to understand who you are at your core, the good and the bad, so you can seek to strengthen the good and strive to minimize the bad.

4. Joy: Next level happy! Joy comes in and takes over leaving no room for sadness, fear, stress, worry, or envy. It can be found in ALL situations if you seek it hard enough.

5. Passion: A powerful emotional connection to people and causes. It turns work into a ministry, teaching into an opportunity to empower others, and relationships into life changing experiences. Passion is the fuel to the engine!

6. Influence: A compelling force that can affect outcomes by changing the actions, behaviors, and opinions of others. It is not about getting my way. It is about leading everyone to a better way.
