Core Concepts of Community Economic Development in Depth
The very first word of the idea “Community” was attacked by Bhattacharyya (2004) who demolished the traditional, locality basis of definition of a community with sound argument but failed to provide a clear definition, opting to focus on derivative term “Community Development”.
“Community Development is a positive response to the historic process of erosion of solidarity and agency.” (Bhattacharyya, 2004)
This is unsatisfactory to me as it does not define the basic component. The question remains; what is a community? What defines its boundaries? What is a clear, universally applicable test of ascertaining who belongs to a community and who doesn’t?
