Corbion selected for initial target validation pilot on Science-Based Targets for Nature

Corbion, a leading supplier of sustainable ingredients, announced today that it has been selected by the Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) (SBTN) to participate in a pilot, the aim of which is to set and validate science-based targets for reducing pressures on nature.

The SBTN is a global initiative championing science-based targets for nature, with the goal of helping companies and organizations align their actions with scientific evidence on the need to protect and restore nature. Guidance established by the SBTN provides a clear, robust framework for companies in which to set ambitious, achievable targets for this work.

As part of the initial target validation pilot, Corbion will work with the SBTN to test and provide feedback on the guidance, which will ultimately help to ensure that it is relevant and practical for companies across a range of sectors. The pilot will support Corbion's efforts to set science-based targets for nature and receive feedback on proposed targets from a panel of technical experts.

"We are thrilled to have been selected by the SBTN for this important pilot," said Olivier Rigaud , CEO of Corbion. "As a company committed to sustainable and responsible business practices, we recognize that protecting and restoring nature is of critical importance to the world, and to our business. We look forward to working with the SBTN to help shape guidance on science-based targets for nature and to set achievable, science-based targets for contributing to this essential agenda."

The pilot is set to begin in?May 2023 and will run until early 2024. Following the initial learning period and any optimizations made to the target validation process, any company will be able to submit its targets for validation. Guidance on science-based targets for nature will be made publicly available, providing a valuable tool for companies and organizations looking to align their actions with scientific evidence pointing to the urgent need for environmental action.
