Market Priced For Perfection; 1Q17 Earnings Predicted To Be Strong Amid Heightened Top-line Growth Expectations

Heading into 1Q17 earnings season, our survey reveals investor expectations are for a strong performance, with those expecting consensus beats the highest in three years driven by healthy predictions for strong organic and EPS growth.   

Investor feedback confirms the Trump Trade is driving the market – fueling additional expectations on top of positive earnings sentiment – but is already priced in, implying a relatively high risk of bearish reaction if anticipated reforms do not materialize within investor timeframes.

An interesting finding, sentiment toward global economies is improving, with all non-U.S. regions registering an uptick on the back of expectations for improved global trade.
