Copywriting Showdown 6 - "Napping at Work"
I know you guys couldn't rest until we put this competition to bed, so here it is!
On Tuesday, Bridget Cotton challenged me and Sumama Azeem (?? The LinkedIn Lizard Man ??) to write copy selling the concept of "napping at work".
...Personally, I'm a HUGE fan. ??
Here's what to do if you'd like to help us advance this worthy cause:
- Read both entries below! (They're in random order and *hopefully* anonymous.)
- Click the link to the poll at the bottom of this article to cast your vote for your favorite pitch!
Contender 1: "2 Hours":
2 Hours and 53 Minutes
That's it. That's all you get.
While many of your employees are suffering from stress, hypertension, and cognitive impairment, studies show that they're only actually productively working for 36% of their 8 hour workday (...and this was before work-from-home!).
...but what can you possibly do to increase productivity without causing more burnout?
Nothing.
(No, seriously.)
Studies conducted by everyone from independent think tanks to NASA have shown that the best way to boost employee performance, improve morale, increase work quality, and even enhance memory retention is to give them time to do nothing every day.
More specifically: Let them rest.
A 20 minute nap in the early afternoon (when most employees are already feeling that post-lunch droop) has been proven to reduce employee stress and anxiety, boost creativity, and even reverse the productivity-destroying effects of a poor night's sleep.
So, what's stopping you?
Put productivity issues to bed. Institute 'employee recharging' into your corporate wellness strategy today!
Contender 2: "Noon-Ritual ":
Is this 1400-year-old Islamic “noon-ritual” behind the rapid success of Boston’s $8B tech giant?
Not many know this, but the prophet Muhammad was the pioneer of this ritual…
And today, thousands of businesses around God's blue ball of beauty follow in his footsteps…
And have made this “noon-ritual” a crucial part of their 9-5.
Why?
Because it increases the productivity of the employees… improves their memory…
And helps them crush tasks with a “can-do” attitude… inevitably driving your business forward at near light speed.
You’d be surprised that Brain Halligan, CEO of Hubspot - that’s the tech company I teased earlier - has never missed this ritual for the past two years - may be more because I’m not keeping tabs on the guy.
In an interview with CBS News he said, “I do this ritual for 30 minutes after lunch at the office…
And when I “wake up”...
I'm very energized and my mind is open and I'm ready to receive more information... and process it in a much better way.”
And it's the same for my employees as well - he didn’t say this bit… but that’s what he meant.
Plus, Winston Churchill, John.F.Kennedy, Leo Di Vinci… and many more famous folks routinely did it.
Now, I’m sure at this point you know I’m talking about naps at work… both for you and your amazing employees.
According to a well cited study done by NASA…
Napping at noon for 26 minutes increased the performance by 34% and alertness by 54% of yawing, sometimes zombie-looking employees.
So the bottom line is, not only a 20-minute nap charges the exhausted, so-called “lazy” employees - and keeps their mental and physical health at peak…
But because of their new found energy, they don’t half-ass work, they bring their A-game…
And help you take your company to infinity and beyond (Buzz Lightyear would be proud)...
And of course… add a few million dollars to the bottom line… maybe a billion too.
So, what’s it gonna be?
A 20-min nap for your hardworking employees… or a no nap at all?
?? So, which ad put you to sleep? You decide the winner!!!
Cast your vote here! The poll is only open for 24 hours!!!
