Copywriting that converts: An expert guide for writing copies for the Cameroonian audience.

Our grandparents told interesting stories that caught our attention for hours. We were so focused and quiet so much so that you could hear the sound of a pin drop.

Copywriting is a lot like telling a story, however, your copy has to be mostly about the reader (target Audience). There, we cracked the code! It’s simple.

Use Mami’s storytelling techniques to write a copy about your target Audience.

Let me break this down for you:

1. Your story needs a character or ‘actor’; who in this case should be your reader and you must know or at least speculate what they want.

What do most Cameroonian businesses want?

Goal: To increase online sales rapidly. To increase Brand visibility?

You need to answer these important questions first.

2. Who is the villain or ‘chef Bandit’ in this story? This will be the problem your target is facing, this could be internal or external. However, you need to highlight them. What is stopping them from achieving their goal?

External Problem: Low brand visibility, competition, low conversion rate or your business has just not ‘blown’

Internal problem: How does this make your reader feel? Do they feel frustrated, anxious, or discouraged?

Your readers need to know you get their problems. That’s what makes what you are writing about relatable.

3. Where is the guide or the ‘grand ma?tre’; you asked? All actors need their maitre in a story – mine is no exception…

If you are identifying all these problems and you can’t solve or guide your reader to a solution, then this is a waste of time. Your copy or story has to guide them to a solution.

However, you can’t just tell them ‘Hey! I can help you. You need to tell them why you are in the best position to help. Is it based on your experience? Are you an expert in the field? Have you been there and done this before? Do you have social proof?

This is where your authority or credibility plays a big role.

4. Now ‘actor’ believes he has found the right guide, but it doesn’t just end there! You need to tell your audience how you will achieve their goals: the plan, the process, and your approach.

Question: How will your plan increase their online sales and make them ‘blow’ so that they don’t feel discouraged or frustrated?

Question 2: Are you giving them winning strategies, tips, hacks, and expert knowledge on how to run their LinkedIn ads to gain prospects? What are the tools they need to make this work? How can they stay ahead of their competition?

5. To the moment we've all been waiting for; the ‘last fight’. Did you give the actor a good enough ‘fatal’ because every actor needs one? Even though there is no way to know before, you need to convince them with hard evidence (expert knowledge, facts, testimonials) that you are offering the best and unique solutions or knowledge to help them achieve their goals.

Question: What would they achieve? What do you want them to do next?

At the end of your story (Ad), your reader needs to mentally visualize the transformation they could have and want to take an action. They need to 'see' the transformation.

The goal of your copy will be to transform an entrepreneur, who was frustrated and discouraged because she had zero brand visibility and no online sales into a successful business owner with increased brand visibility and a 60% increase in sales.
