Copywriting 101: 3 Tips That Can Make Anyone a Copywriting Wizard
Copywriting is simply "sales" in the form of writing.
It is extremely important, yet it is often overlooked in advertising.
With great copy alone, you can 10x your online sales.
A lot of people make it sound more complex than it actually is.
As long as you make it clear as to what your customers will be getting out of buying your product, you're good to go.
Here are the top 3 most effective strategies we use when writing ad copy.
Benefits over features
Great copy focuses on the benefits of your products.
How will your product improve the life of your customers?
What is it doing for them?
That’s what you want to focus on.
A lot of marketers will focus on the features of the product, listing every additional fancy feature that’s included.
What people really want to know is how it is going to benefit them.
It always comes down to that.
I’m not saying it's a bad thing to list features, but that should only come after the customer has been presented with the main benefits of the product.
For example, what benefits do you get from buying a coffee from Starbucks?
You get the social status, you get energy from the caffeine, you get a nice tasting coffee.
Focus on those things, rather than listing features like: made with organic beans, includes new cup, etc.
Always focus on the outcome.
How will they feel after getting your product and what it will mean for their life.
Emphasizing the problem
Another way we like to write our copy is by emphasizing the problems our customers are facing and presenting our product as the solution.
For example, if you’re selling sunscreen, focus on emphasizing the pains of being burnt, how that feels, and how your product can prevent that.
Your customers will be able to resonate with this pain and it will influence them to purchase your product.
You want to find a way to the relate to them and their daily struggles and use your product as a way to solve the problem.
Revealing your unique selling point (what separates you from everyone else)
What separates your product from everyone else’s?
If you have a skincare product for example.
What does yours do that the 1000’s of other skincare products don’t.
Focus on your unique selling points
Using these in your copy will help you boost sales.
For example, if your product includes a secret ingredient, emphasize that one ingredient, it will ultimately help you stand out.
These 3 easy tips will make copywriting 10x easier for anyone. Hope you gained value from this article. Now let's write some awesome copy!
