WASHINGTON - The COPYRIGHT OFFICE - Announces Protection for Blogs, Website Postings, and Social Media. Group Registration for Short Online Literary Works
Breaking News: The US Copyright Office is establishing a new option for registration of a copyright for blog entries, social media posts, and short online articles, all within one application and the applicant only has to pay one filing fee.
In order to register, the applicant may submit up to fifty short online literary works per application, but each "work" must be at least 50 words (and no more than 17,500 words).
Also, the works must be "created" by the same individual and must be named as the claimant for each work.
IMPORTANT - The works must all be published online within a three-calendar-month period.
If the Copyright Office registers the submission, the copyright registration will cover each work as a separate work of authorship.
This copyright option is expected to be available this month.
