Introduction
I am thrilled to present my latest Power BI project, where I have creatively transformed my resume into an interactive Power BI report using various visualizations. This endeavour allowed me to showcase not only my proficiency with Power BI but also my design skills, aiming to impress recruiters and hiring managers.
One intriguing aspect of this project was the lack of an initial dataset, which is unusual for most data visualization projects. I crafted my dataset manually in Excel as I developed the Power BI report, ensuring that each piece of information was relevant and accurate.
I had to select the appropriate visualizations for each page and then create a dataset that fit those visualizations. This approach added a unique challenge to the project, enhancing its overall complexity and creativity. There aren't many similar projects available online, so I had no idea what the result should look like.
Visualization Breakdown
The Power BI Resume report is divided into four main pages: Milestones, Work, Skills, and About Me. To maintain coherence, I kept the left pane of the report consistent across all pages, featuring relevant links to my YouTube channel, website, LinkedIn profile, and GitHub repository.
Page 1: Milestones
The Milestones page was the cornerstone of my report and required the most effort. At the top, I listed my recent certifications and projects, hyperlinked to their respective websites. Below, I displayed my achievement history, illustrating my commitment to completing at least one project, certificate, or certification every month. This visualization was particularly challenging to assemble, and I utilized a helpful YouTube video, which I will link for reference.

Page 2: Work
In the Work page, I presented my work history. Given that I am relatively young and have limited experience, I focused on my current position, where I have been employed for the past two years. Below this, I incorporated a custom visual called Wordcloud to highlight the various tools I use in my job, providing a clear picture of my technical expertise
Page 3: Skills
For the Skills page, I used a bar chart to enumerate my top skills. This was followed by a treemap visual that proportioned my skill groups by experience, offering a detailed and visually appealing representation of my capabilities.
Page 4: About Me
The About Me page featured a text visual containing my professional summary, giving viewers a concise overview of my career and aspirations. Below the summary, I included a hyperlink to my original resume, allowing interested parties to access a more traditional format if desired
Conclusion
Creating this Power BI resume was an enriching and novel experience. It allowed me to push the boundaries of how Power BI can be utilized, transforming a conventional resume into a dynamic and interactive report. Power BI remains my tool of choice, and I continually seek new ways to innovate with it. I welcome any suggestions and look forward to your feedback on this project.
