Connecting to Self and Support
It can get lonely as a social entrepreneur. Sometimes you might be wondering how to solve problems that you've never had to solve before. There are only a few places you can find friends who want to understand the desire to help others + solve problems + generate wealth. On top of that, it’s harder to find entrepreneur friends who also want to do those things while thriving and living a life full of wellness and healing.
The first two years of my journey as an entrepreneur I looked for friends that had businesses in the healing space because I could instantly see our values aligned. Every time I met a new female entrepreneur who seemed like a good fit,?I would invite them to lunch. I always ask questions about how they got started, what was their story and background, and how they hoped their business would change the world.
I began to realize that many of these women wanted to make an impact even if they didn't define themselves as a social entrepreneur. I would often find their passion for their business grew out of personal interest or experience and a desire to help others.?
I’ve continued to look for and collect “fempreneur” and "social entrepreneur" friends and this fall I was privileged to make a new one while participating in The Universities at Shady Grove’s Equity incubator program.?
Ashley Wynn-Grimes is a fellow entrepreneur on an unconventional path who believes in holistic business and helping women-owned businesses succeed. The first time we sat down to lunch it was like magic happened. We had so much fun connecting that it was a natural solution to bottle this up and offer other entrepreneurs the opportunity to find like-minded friends.
Over the past 2.5 years, I’ve realized that entrepreneurship doesn’t have to be a solo ride. If you can’t find the community, you can create the community that you want and need for support and encouragement to continue on the journey.?
That’s why Ashley and I created Elevate H.E.R. Worth - a unique business development experience for entrepreneurs who want to invest in their holistic development and network with others who want the same things.?
This holistic retreat is as much about business development as it is about personal development. We want folks to come together and talk about holistic entrepreneurship and serving while thriving as humans.
If you missed the live conversations we held about these concepts last month, no worries, we have a few more coming in March .
How Can I Find Friends That Value Soft Life Success Too?
Soft Life Success transcends mere financial achievements; it encompasses a holistic approach to self-development, touching upon spiritual, mental, and professional aspects of our lives. The journey to soft-life success doesn’t have to be filled with struggle, let’s explore how we live a soft life and be successful at the same time.
Here are a few tips for ourselves to get started:

Tip 3: Set Boundaries
Here are tips to help you set boundaries that will support you and your business.
Putting it all together, it might be difficult to find friends who value giving back, being successful, and holistic self-development. That's why it's important to think outside the box about how you can attract people who are like-minded and like-hearted to you!
Here are a few tips for finding friends who want to thrive and serve as much as you do:
Tip 1: Join Groups and Make Connections
Joining your local chamber of commerce or other in-person and virtual groups is a great way to meet others who have similar interests. Of those people schedule genuine 1:1 conversations that lead to deeper conversations about the things that matter to you, including driving revenue and making an impact.
Tip 2: Plan Events
Events are a great way to partner with other businesses and spread the word about your impact efforts. From a 5K fun run to a networking brunch mixer, there are loads of ways to plan events that have both a business and personal interest focus. By creating events that align with your values you will also draw attendees who align as well.
Tip 3: Create Your Own Space
If you can't find an existing event or group to join, create your own via Eventbrite, Facebook, or MeetUp. There are lots of ways to develop a community online and in-person. If you are looking for genuine connections sometimes you have to be the spark for connecting.
If you're not someone who likes to organize and create things, find folks like me who are always hosting and gathering great people together!
Cheers! Happy Connecting!
