Copy of HIRING MANAGERS | HOW TO INTERVIEW AND GET THE RIGHT CANDIDATE | POST 3 OF 3

Candidate Should Ask the Hiring Manager

  1. What do you expect me to accomplish in the first 90 days?
  2. If you were to rank them, what are the top three traits your top performers have in common?
  3. What really drives results in this job?
  4. What are the company's highest priority goals this year, and how would my role contribute?
  5. What percentage of employees were brought in by current employees?
  6. What do other employees do in their spare time?
  7. What do you plan to do if...?

Post Series Takeaways

Interviewing and being interviewed is stressful enough and viewed by many (on both sides), a necessary evil in the game of finding a good fit for both the candidate and the employer. Often the Hiring Manager is on their own or given a series of trick or generic questions with less than stellar results. So why make it painful and ineffective?

Instead change it up and try something completely new and different with impressive results for both parties. I remember the first time I tested my complete interview method for a Project Manager position at an ad agency. The candidate emailed me afterwards and told me, "regardless if I get the job, it was the most enjoyable and professional interview I ever had."

Imagine getting a sincere response like that from a candidate after an interview. Try it out and be prepared to be amazed. I know I was.
