Copy Geometry & Publish Geometry Feature in Creo

Copy Geometry & Publish Geometry Feature in Creo

Copy Geometry and Publish Geometry features are top-down design tools to associatively communicate design criteria. With these tools you can propagate a large amount of information by copying reference geometry from model to model.

For large designs, each design group can create skeleton models in their subassemblies with Copy Geometry features that reference the top-level product skeleton. No access to top-level assembly is necessary. Because each group's skeleton encompasses copied references, everyone works with the same design criteria, which remains associative.

What is copy geometry?

Using a Copy Geometry feature in a top-down design can reduce the amount of data in session, because the retrieval of entire reference source models is not necessary. Therefore, the Copy Geometry feature takes up only half the space on disk and in session.

(When you use Copy Geometry, only reference geometry is copied. Only surfaces and datum features are copied, not solid features.)

What is publish geometry?

Publish Geometry features capture design intent.:

?Specify component geometry for use when design group members copy geometry from that model.

Predetermine the geometry to be referenced by a Copy Geometry feature.

Define interfaces.

Reduce the possibility that designers will select incorrect geometry to create driven models.
