The 2024 Learning Impact Conference, hosted by 1EdTech Consortium , the world's leading non-profit collaborative for creating an open and innovative edtech ecosystem, celebrated eight outstanding edtech projects with prestigious Learning Impact Awards. These awards recognize breakthrough digital learning solutions, impactful partnerships, and bold strategies that enhance educational settings.

Platinum awards were given to Clarity by Idaho Digital Learning and LearningMate , and uHoo Analytics by Kennesaw State University . These projects exemplify how actionable data and analytics can empower students, parents, and faculty to improve educational outcomes.

Curtiss Barnes Appointed as CEO of 1EdTech

1EdTech has named Curtiss Barnes as its new CEO. Barnes brings over 30 years of experience in the education sector, having held leadership roles at universities, tech startups, and major companies like Pearson and Oracle. He succeeds Dr. Rob Abel , who announced his retirement last year. Barnes aims to build on 1EdTech's legacy of reducing barriers to innovation and enhancing learning impact.

European Identity and Cloud Conference Highlights Digital Transformation

The European Identity and Cloud Conference (EIC) took place in Berlin, addressing digital identity, regulation, generative AI, and more. A significant focus was on the upcoming eIDAS 2.0 and the EU digital identity wallet (EUDI) projects. These initiatives aim to digitize identity, financial transactions, government services, and more across the EU.?

Additionally, Digital Credentials for Europe (DC4EU) provided an update on its work supporting large-scale, cross-border pilots of the EUDI Wallet in education, professional credentials, and social security. Led by the Government of Spain, DC4EU uses the Decentralized Public Key Infrastructure (DPKI) and the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (EBSI) . The consortium has conducted its first exercises in educational governance and is setting up an interoperability lab focusing on social security.

This innovation streamlines the verification process, enhances trust, and integrates seamlessly with existing systems.

Compellio Announces AlmaMint: A Blockchain-Based Service for Verifiable Education Credentials

Compellio , a Luxembourg-based fintech company, has recently unveiled AlmaMint, a blockchain-powered platform aimed at issuing verifiable education credentials and digital diplomas. This service enables course providers, training organizations, and educational institutions to issue personalized tokens. AlmaMint streamlines the issuance process through an intuitive administrative interface, allowing for efficient management of tokens throughout their lifecycle.
