"Relationships are the currency of true wealth." – Louise Hay
You may have noticed it or not, but I recently found myself stepping back from LinkedIn and my usual biweekly Let Love Lead newsletter rhythm.
For me, this break from productivity, led me to more clarity on how powerful it can be to align with life’s natural flow, rather than pushing harder to meet our usual expectations.
Here’s a glimpse into my why—and the lessons it brought.
For three weekends in a row, I fully unplugged and embraced the art of presence.
First, a self-care weekend in Austria for my birthday was a gift to myself. I wandered through the stunning Vorarlberg mountains with my dog, Lucky, and immersed myself in nature, reflection, and relaxation. My heart said, “Just be.” So, I closed the laptop and embraced a “no productivity” policy for the first time in years, reconnecting to the most important relationship we have, the one with ourselves.
Here are some pictures I want to show you.
The next weekend, my son drove my parents from the Netherlands for their first visit to Switzerland in seven years. It was a moment to cherish. Seeing them together, especially my father after his health struggles, was priceless. We shared meals, explored Lucerne’s beauty, and even reached the top of Mount Pilatus (by cable car of course), complete with a Capricorn sighting! These are precious family moments I will never forget.
The final weekend marked my 25th wedding anniversary. My husband and I escaped to Spangau in Germany, where he had arranged a surprise luxury weekend and a visit to the legendary Neuschwanstein Castle. The Castle was covered in a big blanket of fog but still looked magic—and the two of us, enjoyed laughter, hiking in nature, and wonderful connection.
This pause wasn’t “slowing down” or “falling behind.”
It was the very embodiment of listening to your heart and letting love lead.
Sometimes, consistency isn’t about doing more, but about syncing with what matters most.
For me, it was being present with my most important relations, the one with myself, my family and my husband.
Each moment reminded me that letting love lead isn’t just an idea or concept—it’s a way to feel energized, joyful, and at peace.
Thank you for joining me in this journey of self-alignment.

4 个月This really resonates Marlies (and I'm so happy for you!). I agree with the principle, yet often have a hard time recognising when I need to slow down and let some things slide - unless forced (which I have been, as you know). We live and learn...right? ??
Your Self-Care Coach against Stress & Menopause struggles.| From overwhelmed and helpless to energised and resilient.
4 个月It totally resonates with me Marlies Hazelaar! I removed stuff from my to dos, took plenty of naps and hours to just chill this week as I felt this was too much lately and I needed it to be at peace with myself! Somehow every day I did that I felt more energised to tackle the to dos the next day! ??
