COP26 – #Vi Will Be There For All Of Us
What a month November will be! The 26th United Nations Climate Change conference will take place in Glasgow early in the month and this could prove to be the most important two weeks of the year, indeed of the coming decades.?
In many respects, we have had an unnerving 2021 regarding climate change with extraordinary weather events from flooding in Germany to wildfires in Canada. We urgently need some good news and even more importantly, rapid action, and I believe COP26 will provide the former and give the impetus for the latter.?
The goal is clear, the largest meeting of global leaders since the beginning of the pandemic is determined to: “Secure global net zero by mid-century and keep 1.5 degrees within reach”.
I cannot think of anything more important today. Reaching this goal will positively impact everyone on the planet. We now have a unique opportunity. I believe that the minds of governments everywhere have been focused by this year’s erratic weather and the urgency with which we must address the underlying cause, global warming, is now apparent to everyone.
We are personally involved, both attending and taking part in discussion panels, to present the case that people must be put first in whatever is decided. There must be an intense focus on the homes, schools, workplaces and recreation areas -- the living spaces for generations to come -- providing sustainable and healthy environments for all.
We spend the vast majority of our lives in our homes. They are our frontline in the battle against global warming and it is in our living spaces that we can make the biggest positive impact. These are also the areas that @Viessmann is most deeply involved in. Developing climate solutions for generations to come and that is the basis for me saying we will be at COP26 for all of us.

Viessmann’s purpose of creating living spaces for generations to come exactly matches the goals of COP26. It shines through the conference objectives starting with “Adapt to protect communities and natural habitats”. Both we, and COP26, see the community firmly in the centre of climate action.
Therefore, we must rapidly accelerate the development of green energy sources. The @International Energy Agency stated in the @Financial Times that we must triple the money spent on developing clean power in the next decade. This, and the allocation of green gases to homes are high on Viessmann’s agenda when the company engages with national governments, the EU and now global leaders at COP26.
After the conference, our focus must be on further action. We don’t need to wait, we can do a lot independently, take the initiative and start reducing our carbon footprints today or tomorrow, together. We must work together to deliver on our commitment to zero CO2 living. No more silos. Climate solutions are comprehensive, inclusive, cross sector solutions.
We can do a lot together, you and I. We can accomplish much as individuals. And we can influence the resource allocation of governments, financial institutions and scientific institutions to fully focus them on providing healthy and sustainable living spaces for everyone.
This is the message we will bring to COP26, on behalf of the whole Viessmann organization, our children and communities, our customers and partners and on behalf of people everywhere. Begin with our homes. Let’s get started!

3 年You are almost right, Max. Regarding global warming your argumentation is sound and should result in heat pumps with low GWP refrigerants. But solely focusing on global warming does not address the other big challenge mankind is facing. Only 1 percent of all the water on our blue planet is easily accessible as drinking water. HFO refrigerants are via their atmospheric breakdown product TFA threatening this scarce resource. If Viessmann really wants to create living spaces for future generations, you should also protect our scarce and valuable drinking water resources. You can do so by solely manufacturing heat pumps with natural refrigerants. They will at the same time be more energy efficient than their HFC or HFO counterpart. Cheers, Michael
