Cooperation Drives the Broadband Vision

Cooperation Drives the Broadband Vision

The 5th generation of Fixed Networks (F5G) offers the prospect for a new era of digital innovation. F5G provides ultra-high bandwidths, integrated all-optical connections and high-level service experiences for home and enterprise customers/subscribers. The recent Huawei LATAM ICT summit focused on the full fiber approach and related transport, access technologies with autonomy, high bandwidth/low latency connections and included the participation of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) and the World Broadband Association (WBBA).

Wider F5G adoption across Latin American (LATAM) is set to stimulate the regional economy through adoption of optical fiber across all verticals, from education, E-health, transportation, and manufacturing to smart homes and smart cities. In this article, we explore the benefits of F5G to enable new innovations in vertical industries, build future-proof industry networks and establish regulations to combat broadband inequality in LATAM.

The vision and technology of F5G

Representing the next generation of fixed network, F5G supports a full-fiber connection, enhances fixed broadband and guarantees a reliable experience for industries and consumers. As carriers build more broadband networks, the impact is increased vertical industry innovation and higher Quality of Experience for end users.

For example, higher F5G bandwidths, low latencies and wireless network support, will be instrumental in supporting new cloud-enabled applications, whether it’s ultra-high definition video streaming, virtual reality (VR) gaming or telemedicine.

Carriers and industry leaders have accelerated fiber deployments to as many sectors as possible and taken a structured approach to expanding these fixed networks. For example, the dominance of F5G is apparent in diverse areas, such as smart manufacturing, smart healthcare, cloud gaming and smart finance.

F5G ensures consistent, high bandwidth data relays and is designed for a broad spectrum of use cases which benefit from Full Fiber Connections (FFC). These include initiatives such as smart grids, oil fields and smart mining which is protected from electromagnetic waves that disrupt service signals.

Pathways to develop F5G

Technically, F5G relies on innovative advances to substantially increase bandwidth capacity and to support “Gigabit” communities. It enables upstream and downstream symmetric broadband capacity to enable Gigabit smart homes and commercial environments. By incorporating programmable networks, autonomy, extreme low latencies and interoperability, end users and enterprises across every industry achieve more efficient digital outcomes and gain significant ROIs. Indeed, F5G is beneficial for future-proofing infrastructure and encouraging digital transformation.

As F5G introduces new opportunities for adopting fiber technology, it offers several different paths for achieving strategic goals and expanding the reach of fiber to everything, everywhere. These approaches not only enable new industry, commercial and end user scenarios, they also deliver sustainable benefits for the broadband initiatives of LATAM.

A key pathway focuses on those socioeconomic benefits and entails coordinated efforts from all stakeholders on building future-proof networks. For industry organizations, more unified standards help bridge the gap and facilitate increased network construction and upgrades. For example, the FBB industry platform promotes dialogue between telecommunications providers and regulators, ensuring that operators meet all industry standards, policies and specifications.

The ability to simplify policymaking can produce strategic results as well as address the inequalities of broadband rollouts in LATAM. On the one hand, clear standards help lower the barrier for entry into building fixed networks. On the other hand, beneficial policies create investment friendly environments that can attract larger companies along with the necessary capital to fund new initiatives.

Making F5G A Reality

F5G is a key focus of these initiatives because it offers higher bandwidths, lower network latencies by 90% and higher security stability by 99.999%. As carriers, industry customers and equipment vendors collaborate to improve F5G standards, they can prevent fragmented approaches and ensure swift adaptation of fiber infrastructure.

Today, F5G is set to evolve to the next level by enabling ultra-broadband, massive connectivity and cloud network convergence. Industries need to seize the business opportunities, capitalize on services and accelerate optical fiber network construction.

good afternoon, i wish u could have very good weekend, could we have quick discussion : Why Chile FBB user experience is in the top of world but not MBB, I think one of the reason is subtel in Chile put huge investment to rebuild digital Andes (fiber network) in the Chile digital world such as FON, FOA, last mile projects #digital #userexperience #chile #investment #Andes #subtelchile But the last mile for 5G sites is not widely covered by fiber , that limited the user experience of MBB , especially the video user experience https://www.dhirubhai.net/posts/ye-jianmiao-222922a9_digital-userexperience-chile-activity-7040453080592588800-3hU-?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop
