Cool Ways to Celebrate Closing Day
Preserve Title Company
Preserve Title was founded on the principles of service, expertise, trust and commitment.
Closing day is a big day for buyers, especially if they’re first-timers or new to an area. With a little bit of forethought, however, real estate agents can add to the moment by building celebration into the occasion.
Below are some practical ways to make closing day a little more special:
Plan ahead to support your clients during the closing process.
As we’ve shared before, by thinking through what your clients may need or want while signing documents, you can make everything go more smoothly:
For instance, you could bring coloring books or a couple of inexpensive, age-appropriate toys for small kids who may need a distraction while their parents sign documents. Or, if your client is going to rush over to sign documents on their lunch hour, offer to have a meal delivered for their drive back to the office.
Although not as flashy as a gift with a bow, this kind of attention to detail can build loyalty for you and your professional brand – something that could also translate into repeat business or future referrals.
When celebrating a client’s milestone, keep their tastes, lifestyle and needs in mind.
If you’ve spent a fair amount of time with a client, odds are you may have a sense of their tastes and interests. The most memorable gifts will reflect those observations.
Thus, for a Millennial into mid-century modern, consider a gift certificate to a furniture store or restaurant that reflects that vibe. Has your commercial client bought rural acreage in hopes of building a new development? An upscale steak dinner might be in order. Working with down-sizing Gen Xers? Maybe a massage gift certificate or a basket of gourmet food might fit the bill. Get creative!
Of course, it’s pragmatic to consider whether someone might have food allergies or be working through alcohol addiction. If you’re unsure, then it might be wise to stay clear of food or beverage items that could cause a client to feel uneasy – or put them in an uncomfortable position of having to decline your gift out of a desire to protect their well-being.
Think outside of the (gift) box.
In an increasingly digital world, streaming subscriptions can be a great way to celebrate a special occasion. Or membership in a local community supported agriculture (CSA) box could be ideal for the foodie client who is excited to try out her new Viking range. Perhaps you’d like to also support other local businesses with a gift certificate (or two) to a neighborhood restaurant, plant nursery or upscale hardware store.

Snap a photo (or two!) to share.
Capturing closing day activities – and the jubilation that often follows the paperwork – can be a fun way to help preserve the moment. Make it a little more special with reusable props such as oversized branded keys, balloons or a “Sold!” sign. You can send these photos to your clients and, with their permission, perhaps share them on social media to help remind friends, family and former clients that you’re available to help them on their own real estate journeys.
