COOL COCKTAILS? : PEPPER SMASH
NOT JUST A PRETTY FACE
To qualify for a spot in Cool Cocktails weekly write up you’re going to have to work pretty hard if you’re a cocktail at the Atlas bar in Singapore where the sheer magnificence of the place serves as an opulent distraction. Proving you can’t become Asia’s no 1 bar on good looks alone, Headbartender Jesse Vida and the team there have added value to their drinks offering in many ways, not least by creating a charitable incentive to support the bar community.
In a time when global travel is generally frowned upon, worldATLAS brings the world to its customers by featuring cocktails created by recognised bartenders in respected bars around the world on the menu with 20% of profit going back into the industry.
Standards are high as old buddies of mine Hayden Lambert from Above Board in Melbourne and Hampus Thunholm from Stockholm’s Lucy’s Flower Shop have already contributed. Most recently Jay Khan from the award winning agave bar Coa has submitted a fantastic libation, the Pepper Smash, that brings crafted Mexican authenticity, via Hong Kong, to the Singaporean gin Mecca.
There’s more to Atlas than meets the eye.
