COOKLEGAL - Expert Domestic Violence & Family Law Firm

Last week I resigned as Principal Solicitor of Women’s Legal Service (WLS).

I have been working with WLS for almost 4 years and prior to that time I volunteered with the organisation for 5 years whilst working in private practice. It has been a wonderful journey and WLS is now in a very strong position both financially and in terms of profile and I am sure the organisation will go from strength to strength.

I have decided it is time to take the next step in my career and open my own law firm, COOKLEGAL which will be an expert Domestic Violence and Family Law firm. I will be commencing my new firm in December 2015 and am now accepting client referrals.

I remain committed and passionate about the work undertaken by WLS and will be donating a percentage of profits from COOKLEGAL back to WLS. I will also be returning to my volunteer capacity with WLS.

My last day with WLS will be Friday 4 December and I will commence COOKLEGAL on Monday 7 December.

COOKLEGAL is the first private expert Domestic Violence Law Firm in Australia.

Based in Brisbane but also providing a state-wide service, we offer advice, representation and advocacy for all Domestic Violence and Family Law matters.

Domestic Violence has reached epidemic proportions in Australia and the number of Applications for Domestic Violence Orders filed each year is steadily increasing. We understand that the Court process is daunting and that you need expert advice and assistance. We are here to help with a range of fixed price services.

We act for both people seeking protection (Aggrieved) through obtaining a Domestic Violence Order and those who have been accused of committing Domestic Violence (Respondent) in Domestic Violence proceedings. We engage Barristers to undertake our Court advocacy work as part of our fixed price structure.

We also provide limited Family Law services as we recognise that the cost of retaining a lawyer to assist with resolving property, children and divorce related matters is prohibitive to many individuals.

We are different to a regular for profit firm. We are committed to giving back to the community and in particular to services who assist women and children who have been subjected to Domestic Violence.

Each financial year our firm contributes a percentage of profits back to a nominated charity and also undertake voluntary work.

In the 2015/2016 financial year our nominated charity is the Women's Legal Service (www.wlsq.org.au).
