Cook County Assessor Dumping Final Results On Taxpayers and Board of Review

The Assessor finally issued decisions on appeals pending for West and Leyden Townships. From a review of the results and hearing from other firms as well, he apparently granted almost no reductions on Class 5-93 Industrial Properties that were supported by appraisal reports. It seems there is never enough evidence that will convince this Assessor that relief is warranted.

Some good news. His office also published a press release stating that the basis for all of his decisions will now be available on-line, with no need to file FOIA requests, which were being summarily ignored anyway.

Additionally, he said that all of the decisions for the remaining Cook County Townships will be reported within the next 10-14 days. Asked whether the delays in issuing his decisions would impact the issuance of second installment tax bills, he allegedly said that is now a problem for the Board to deal with.

Lastly, DuPage County Board of Review decisions are due out sometime this week.

Stay tuned.
