COO of Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Studios exits company; Saudi Arabia’s MBC Studios hires former Amazon exec; and more
After expanding his role last March to include Nickelodeon Studios, Paramount Pictures COO Andrew Gumpert is exiting the company this week. The announcement as just made by studio boss Brian Robbins.
Deadline understands that Gumpert’s exit was arrived at amicably with studio chief Brian Robbins, with the exec telling staffers in Robbins’ memo, “I’ve been contemplating the next chapter of my career and I’m excited to figure out what’s next. I am confident that this organization will continue to lead the industry.”
In the wake of Gumpert’s departure, Courtney Armstrong, President of Business Affairs and Administration, will assume responsibilities in Strategic Planning and Labor Relations, with Studio Group President Randall Baumberger overseeing Studio Operations. Both will report to Robbins.

Christina Wayne, former Amazon Studios originals boss for Canada and Australia, will be the new Managing Director of Saudi Arabia-based MBC Studios.?She will succeed Peter Smith, whose departure was first reported by Deadline last week. Smith will remain as an advisor.?

UTA is expanding its board, adding Main Street Advisors CEO Paul Wachter and Nexus Management founder Ceci Kurzman as independent directors. Wachter is also succeeding Jim Berkus as chairman. Berkus, who co-founded UTA in 1991, was chairman of the board for 25 years. He remains actively involved with the company, which has recently made a series of targeted M&A moves.
