Convocation 2024 from a Fresher’s Perspective
Convocation day is a bittersweet ceremony; equal parts joy and nostalgia, it marks the end of the glorious two years students spent at IBS Gurgaon. It is also a beautiful sunrise, promising a new beginning and a bright future waiting ahead.
As a first-year student at IBS Gurgaon, my journey has just begun, and witnessing the Convocation of the Class of 2024, held on 13th July, filled me with inspiration. Although I wasn’t physically present, the excitement and pride radiated from every snapshot of this monumental day. Seeing my super seniors walk across the stage to receive their diplomas, I couldn’t help but daydream about the day when I would be in their position. Each smiling face told a story of dedication, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of their dreams during their time at IBS. It struck me how much effort goes into reaching this significant milestone.
Watching the awardees receive prestigious awards like the Manu Bhatnagar Memorial Award, the Sumana Dutta Memorial Award, and the NYJ Gold and Silver Awards - it made me realize the power of perseverance. I felt motivated to dream big and work hard to achieve that same greatness. The journey of a student at IBS Gurgaon truly transforms them into the best version of themselves through academics and various extracurricular opportunities, allowing them to learn and grow into intelligent, capable individuals. In my one month at IBS, I have found the courage to face challenges I thought were impossible for me to overcome, and I can only imagine how daunting and rigorous the next two years will be. But each photo and video of the convocation ignited a determination in me to make the most of my time here at IBS, to seize every opportunity, form lasting friendships and fulfil my dreams.
The Convocation ceremony was a joyous occasion, celebrating not just the students, but the support of their families, and the efforts and dedication of the faculty at IBS Gurgaon as well. It made me realize how blessed I am to have the opportunity to learn from such wonderful, esteemed professors, and I promised myself to make them proud one day.
As my super seniors bid farewell to this institution, I reflected upon my journey ahead, the challenges and fears that I would have to face. But at the end of the road awaits my own Convocation Day, and I cannot wait to one day look back at my own accomplishments proudly. Like Robert Frost wrote in his poem, “I have promises to keep / And miles to go before I sleep.”
