Battery best practices

?

Green Tiger provides NMC battery packs which are mounted in the boot space of the vehicle. The battery pack has a capacity of 1.8 kWh, with 60km Range on a single charge* & a life span of 800-1,000 charge-cycles.

?

The Battery can be removed by hand & charged at any 5 AMP socket.

?

Along with the Battery pack, there is an MCB switch integrated into the boot as an additional safeguard.

?

It is advisable to turn off the MCB switch before unplugging the pack. Similarly, turn it on after the Battery is replugged.

?

2. Charging

?

It takes approximately 4 hours to charge the Battery to 100%.

?

You should avoid charging the battery a little & discharging it immediately, as we do with our mobile phones. This can affect the Battery's life in the long run.

?

Thus, charge the Battery when the SOC (State of Charge, which means the percentage of charge in the Battery) is 0%-20%, and remove it once it is fully charged.

?

Similarly, avoid overcharging the Battery too much or frequently (a little overcharge is okay).

?

3. Placement & Handling

?

Always keep the Battery in a cool place and avoid exposing it to high temperatures. Also, do not place any hot objects too close to the Battery.

?

Take care as to not ?? wet the Battery, especially the plug area. Also, keep your hands dry when you plug and unplug it for charging, or when mounting it in the vehicle.

?

Using both modes

?

i-Hybrid's USP is that the 2 modes are not connected to each other & run independently with a manual switch. This can make some people keep driving only in 1 mode, and it's often the Electric mode (it's that good?). But it is advisable to use both modes now and then, especially the ICE mode as there are many mechanical components that can be impacted if not used for an extended period.

?

Servicing & Repair

?

1. Puncture Repair

?

One of the most commonly occurring issues with automobiles is tire puncture. We all have, at least once in our lives, dragged our vehicles because of a tire puncture.

?

It is natural for a new i-Hybrid rider, to have the question, of whether a rear tire puncture can be repaired by a local mechanic because the Hub Motor (which powers the Electric mode) is mounted on the rear wheel.

?

But that is not a problem at all. Any local mechanic can easily repair the tire by unmounting the Motor with an Allen key and mounting it back after the work is done. You can watch this video to see how easily the Hub Motor can be removed.

?

2. Regular Washing & Service

?

You can easily wash your vehicle without removing any EV components like the Motor or Display. But do remove the Battery pack if you are pressure washing, as the water can seep inside the dickey.

?

You can service or repair your vehicle from any local mechanic when it comes to petrol mode. And for any EV issue or for regular service, you can bring your vehicle to one of the GT HRC centers periodically.

?

By following the dos and don'ts outlined in this article, i-Hybrid owners can ensure that their vehicles continue to deliver optimum performance and efficiency over the long term. Embracing these best practices will not only enhance your driving experience but also contribute to a sustainable and eco-friendly future.
