Conversations with myself: Why can’t we? Please tell me Why.

I fear we are descending into an abyss of a global and national impermeable caste system based on historical and current grievances, socially constructed identities and ideologies.

I fear hyper-partisanship, nationalism, and tribalism are becoming an addictive drug which can only lead to self-destruction.

I fear we are demonizing each other and shutting each other a little too much.

That we are not being honest with ourselves and each other.

That we are too afraid to offend others, and are choosing to shut up.

That we are too hurt to let others in.

That we are closing doors and building walls

That we are preoccupied with the hierarchy of oppression: black people, women, Muslims, immigrants and LGBTQ are victims for the left, and White men and Christianity are victims for the right.

Why can't we look at the data and objectively justify those who are unjustly treated?

Why can't we all come together if we all think we are victims and make victimhood history?

Black people

Women,

White people,

Blue color White men,

Muslims, immigrants, LGBTQ,

Christians

Africans,

Tutsi,

Hutu,

Asians,

Latinos,

Arabs,

Persians,

Jews,

Native Americans,

HUMANKIND.

Why can't we make a coalition of all the people who think they are victims of any injustice,

Why can't we acknowledge everyone's grievances?

What happened to all men are created equal?

Are we afraid that by including everyone we won't have any tribal wars to fight?

Won’t we have other causes worth pursuing?

Do Muslims support the LGBTQ rights?

Do Christians support religious freedom for Muslims?

Do Muslims support freedom of speech including saying things about their prophet they might not like?

Do immigrants care about blue color White folks? What about LGBTQ?

Do Black people care about immigrants? What about White people?

Do White people care about minorities?

Who has more rights than the other if all humankind is created equal with inalienable rights?

Do we truly believe that all men and women are endowed with unalienable rights? Or we all want our turn to get power so we can oppress others and deny them the very rights we are fighting for?

Have we escaped our evolutionary paradigm?

Have we healed enough?

Is the fight for justice a zero-sum game?

Is justice a finite resource?

Is love a depletable gem or an inexhaustible energy we all have deep inside of us that grows bigger and stronger the more we share it with others?

Do we really want equal rights or more rights for our tribe?

We are all fighting for justice. How just are we? How impartial are we? How broad is our justice net?

What does justice even mean? Punishment? Victims becoming perpetrators?

How can we heal more? Forgive more? Love more? Unite more?

Where are the answers? In spirituality? Economics? Science? Psychology? Religion? Just your religion? Or all religions? Your culture or all cultures?

How can we unite?

Please tell me how?

Prosper, you raise wonderful, penetrating questions. As I think about them, I am reminded of the quote: "The important thing is the heart, and that is yours, that heart may be united with heart, spirit with spirit. This is the real Life, the real existence. All else is earthly and shall pass away. But the Love which is of the Spirit shall live forever." — 'Abdu'l-Bahá
