Conversations and Belonging
Unless you’re a complete jerk, the more meaningful conversations you have, the better your life and the better your business will be.
“Getting to know your client base” is not done best through analyzing data, it’s the simple act of walking over to a client and saying “Hi, thank you so much for being here."
“Building your team culture” is not renting a high ropes course and doing trust falls, it’s the simple act of asking a team member, "How are you?” and giving 100% of your attention to listening intentionally. In the world of high numbers of texts and emails, but these are like the black and white version of a picture. Conversations are the full color 3D version.
You want to have high impact with your clients and your team so which version do you want to use with your team and clients? Conversations also add one secret ingredient that those forms of communication do not convey – a sense of belonging. Do you want your team member to feel like they belong with you? Do you want your client to feel like they belong at your studio? With those two things in place, life and business gets a lot easier. Whether it is right, wrong, ego boosting, or embarrassing to you - it’s a fact that we all have a spotlight on us.

The power of that spotlight is wasted if we don’t share it. We can redirect it - and it is felt - when you really listen to someone else in a conversation. They are in that light with you – and they feel like they belong. Humans need it and you have the power to give it.
Do it. No excuses.
It’s not about you so don’t let yourself or your inner critic stop you from initiating and connecting in as many conversations as possible. It’s actually an act of kindness that helps you too.
