Conversation topics and partners!
Now we're going somewhere! Today we had our first planning + volunteer meeting! We did a little extra brainstorming and our brains came up with even more cool ideas this time!! Here's the planning meeting if you want to see what creating a conference from scratch looks like. Desiree and Carrie have been leading the sessions and on demand content workstream and are kicking ass on the tracks and the ideas. While most of the content is being created from our outbound outreach, I encourage you to comment on this post or reach out to us directly if you think you have a conversation topic that needs to be covered during this event!
I'm definitely finding that a 1-hour meeting is not NEARLY enough time together for everything we need to accomplish, so there's a lot of chatter in Slack, which makes planning feel less cohesive and hard to follow. It will be a learning curve to make this feel more like the well-oiled machine we want it to be.
We've spent a lot of time on the experience we want to create and the people we want to attract, and the outcomes we are hoping for, but I don't think we've spent enough on it. But this is the conundrum... we have enough to be dangerous and enough to make an amazing event, but are we stopping to ensure that all decisions align to a north star? Because do we have a north star? I think we do, it's just got some clouds in front of it right now. But by Monday, it'll be clear skies with a clear north star!
So here's my 1:00am Vvog as I wait for my 2am Asia virtual event to kick off... Ah, the glamorous life of an event professional!
