In Conversation with Mascot Gaming Motion Designer

Tell our readers a few words about yourself. What do you do, and what are your hobbies and interests?

I'm immersed in the world of motion design. There's something magical about bringing static images to life, making them move and dance. This fascination keeps me glued to my computer at all hours, fueling my passion.

My hobbies are quite varied, with a peculiar interest in the world of fragrances. My collection of perfumes is ever-growing, each bottle telling its own unique story. However, my true love lies in the realms of academic drawing and painting. Revisiting anatomy, whipping up quick sketches, and diving deep into the arts are what truly captivate me. I've even set up my own studio, complete with plaster heads and a custom-made podium by my father for live modeling sessions. My dream is to one day fully dedicate myself to my art, perhaps leaving this world with a brush in hand, crafting a Dutch-style still life. Naturally, my affection for computer graphics also plays a significant role in my life, a passion that has grown since my university days.

How long have you been with the company, and what are your responsibilities?

I've been part of the team for four months, starting from an engaging conversation with Eugenia and a surprising success in the test task that led me here, to Mascot! The technical interview, with Ksyusha's keen ability to catch on and build a conversation from brief exchanges, felt like a lively game of catch. The whole process was filled with enthusiasm and energy.

Where are you currently located, and what are your plans?

Currently, I reside in Minsk, after spending some time in Armenia. Interestingly, I find myself missing Belarusian potatoes with bacon, a sentiment I never anticipated. For now, I have no desire to move elsewhere.

Do you remember your first days at work? Any interesting stories?

Absolutely, the initial days were a blend of confusion and intrigue. It felt as though I had stepped onto a film set, surrounded by creative chaos, with everyone moving swiftly - cameras rolling, and a constant push to act faster. This vibrant atmosphere quickly drew me into the workflow.

Tell us an interesting fact from your life.

A fun fact about me – I taught my dog the command "Fight with paws!" So, when I say "Mickey, fight with paws," the dog literally starts to box. Considering he's a corgi with short legs, it's even funnier.

I'm also one of those people who enjoy odd films like Béla Tarr's "Werckmeister Harmonies" or Derek Jarman's "Caravaggio." What makes these films special isn't their complexity but how they convey a sense of cosmic injustice through the seven notes in musical harmony, and then out of nowhere, a postman gets abducted by a helicopter. It's all about the grotesque, avant-garde, and the oddities.

Name three associations with the word 'Mascot.'

My main association with Mascot is something kind and creative. It was unusual at first that exactly at 6 PM our group chat comes to life, showing that we have communication outside of work as well.

What was your most stressful moment??

The most stressful moment was the trial period. Initially, it was hard to adapt to the marketing language. Eventually, everything turned out fine, we found a common language, and moreover, it was very useful to understand how my colleagues think, to keep pace, so to speak.

What advice would you give to your coworkers?

My advice is to love what you do and do what you love!

Pass the baton for the next interview. How did you meet this person?

It would be really interesting to read an interview with Dasha. It's that moment when you talk to someone every day but only know them by their voice.?
