In Conversation with Mascot Gaming Frontend Lead

A few words about yourself - what do you do, your hobbies, interests, and interesting facts from your life?

Hi! My name is Dmitry Zhirma, I'm 28 years old, and I'm responsible for the frontend development of Mascot Gaming games. I like to spend my free time differently - sometimes I just stay at home and play video games, and sometimes I engage in active sports such as soccer, boxing, or skiing. After moving, it became boring, and I spent more time at home or work, but I plan to learn wakeboarding or water skiing and try snorkeling.

Your path in the company - how long have you been working, and what are your responsibilities?

I have been working in the company for a little over seven years, I got here through an interview. At first, they didn't seem to hire me, but then they decided to hire me. My responsibilities include developing new and supporting existing games. In addition to this, I try to make sure that the games are not only fun to play but also fun to develop. I study and try new tools that can simplify our work.

Where are you currently located, and what are your plans?

I am currently in Spain. Shortly, I plan to get a residence permit and go to London.

What led you to pursue a career in front-end development? How did you enter this profession?

I started my career as a mobile developer for Android. At my first job, I made mobile apps and didn't plan to change anything. But at some point, I decided to change jobs. And for some reason, I responded to frontend developer vacancies. And I was hired by one of the companies. That's how my path as a front-end developer began.

Tell us about your favorite game from Mascot, why is it your favorite?

Probably Re_Kill. I like games in the biohazard style.

Name three associations with the word Mascot.

Games, team, characters.

Following up on the previous interview... Why did you still leave your previous job a few months after Dima Kh's arrival?

I left my previous job due to a lack of free time. We could work for 12-14 hours, sometimes starting to work at 2-3 am. With such a schedule, there was no time for anything at all. So it is not related to Dima Kh's arrival.

What was the most stressful moment for you during work?

Since starting my work here, I have been fortunate to experience excellent working conditions, and I cannot recall any particularly stressful moments. Although some tasks can be challenging and require a great deal of responsibility, this is simply part of the job.

What advice can you give to your colleagues?

Always strive to improve your skills and don't be afraid to take on new tasks.

Pass the baton to the next person we'll be interviewing. How did you meet them?

I pass the baton to Pasha Shiryaev, our amazing artist. We met at work when we used to go to the office.
