In Conversation with Mascot Gaming Artist

Tell our readers a few words about yourself. What do you do, and what are your hobbies and interests?

I've always been fascinated by two things—creativity and technology. So, anything at the intersection of these two fields strikes a chord with me—be it games, movies, music, 3D, 2D, etc. My dream is to create something of my own—a game, a book, or a movie. It's not so important what it is, which is why I constantly switch between drawing, game design, and scriptwriting. Maybe someday something will come of it. My colleague Asti, who just celebrated her fifth anniversary, provides great emotional support.

How long have you been with the company, and what are your responsibilities?

I've been on staff since around March 2020, but actually, I did my very first graphic design job for Dmitry Malyshev back in 2011. I was blown away back then—it was unbelievable to me and my friends that you could work as an artist, from a computer, remotely via the internet. It was mind-blowing and essentially set my life path. I even went off to get a higher education but here I am again. Until recently, I was creating 3D characters, but now I am working on 2D animation.

Where are you currently located, and what are your plans?

I'm currently in Nizhny Novgorod. I would like to move somewhere else, but I don’t know where. For now, I'm constantly in a state of indecision.

Do you remember your first days at work? Any interesting stories?

On my first day at work, I came in with mismatched socks, but since I work from home, nobody noticed.

Tell us an interesting fact from your life.

Once I broke both my arms at the same time; since then, I've never taken offense to criticism of my work.

Name three associations with the word 'Mascot.'

Malta, snowboarding, dogs.

Share a funny work-related story.

Once, I managed to visit one of our offices and accidentally broke the door lock ˉ\_(ツ)_/ˉ

What was your most stressful moment??

Much of 2022 was very stressful.

What advice would you give to your coworkers?

My advice is more of a wish—don't turn into a soulless corporation and keep the punk spirit alive. I really enjoy the fact that despite different ages and backgrounds, everyone is united by a rebellious spirit and youthful enthusiasm (although I mostly see everyone at corporate events, maybe that's why). I hope we keep and carry this spark forward.

Pass the baton for the next interview. How did you meet this person?

By the great power of random selection granted to me, I appoint Alena Agarkova as my successor.
