And Then The Conversation Gets Real . . . .

And Then The Conversation Gets Real . . . .

Yesterday I wrote a short (3 minute) piece that I hope you'll read. In every stop that I've made, people have opened up about a struggle they've been hiding in plain sight. It's the impact of having a loved on in their life battling an addiction. We all know someone struggling with this; we just may not realize it yet. I've posted this piece in Medium sharing my personal experience and that of other families bringing this out of the shadows ……

Jeff, thank you. When we work to being open about closed door issues and eradicate the hurdles of avoidance we will be more powerful in eliminating the blame and pain. We all play a part in this scenario. What part are you deciding to play?

A valuable contribution to a difficult topic. With contributions like Jeffrey's here gradually that stigma may well lift. As he says, "It’s natural to want to avoid this topic, or to blame addicts or their victims. But talk to the people I talk to, and there is no way to blame them or to ignore their pain. It’s our pain, too." Thank you for sharing Jeffrey.
