YU Innovation Lab fuels a borderless NYC-based ecosystem via a unique model - business accelerator within the academy.
In our brand new series highlighting the diverse global community of our startup cohort, we are excited to feature exclusive interviews with our founders. Join us in exploring SightBit , an AI management platform for data-powered water management, through a Q&A with CEO & Founder, Adam Bismut . Let's dive into the insights he shared about his startup! ??
What is SightBit , and what solutions does it offer?
SightBit is a platform that provides a comprehensive solution to monitoring all open water sites for various purposes such as beach safety and?drowning prevention, site security, and pollution detection and prevention. SightBit's system leverages AI and computer vision to provide accurate analysis of the water conditions as well as other factors on land, and by connecting basic video cameras that send their feeds directly to the algorithms on the cloud, the system detects dangers, tracks objects, and alerts the responsible personnel to all occurrences on shore and in the water. The system requires no sensors, no special equipment and no customization.?
Could you please provide a brief bio about yourself and introduce your team members?
I’m Adam Bismut - an entrepreneur, a lecturer at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and a graduate MBA student with a thesis on entrepreneurship. I’m the CEO and founder of SightBit Ltd. , a startup that is developing deep technology that increases safety and security around water environments. Before SightBit I ran an accelerator program and was in charge of over $1M per year and over 30 employees. I was also very active in the Scouts movement for many years, leading many "tribes" and establishing a brand new "tribe" in the Sha'ar HaNegev local council in Israel.?Our team consists of:
What inspired you to create SightBit?
After witnessing first hand the tragedies of drowning, I decided it made no sense that lifeguards cannot enjoy the technological breakthroughs that have been made in the past decade. I set out to make sure that water monitoring will not be a forsaken field and set out to bring the 21st century to every watchtower and make sure the detection process is becoming more efficient and more reliable.?
Can you share a success story or a notable experience from your team's work?
In the past few months, SightBit system has proven its efficiency and reliability by detecting people caught in rip-currents in several locations. The system sent an immediate alert and enabled the lifeguards to reduce their response time significantly. It's important to note that the third leading cause of accidental death in the world is drowning, and most drownings in open water are the result of people getting caught in rip-currents.?
Why did you choose to collaborate with Innovation Lab?
I wanted to work with the best people there are. Yeshiva University Innovation Lab is a place where excellence and generosity meet, and thanks to our mutual work, SightBit enjoys the work and insights of wonderful interns, and the interns receive the best guidance and mentorship!
