A conversation with Enrico Fantin
FANTINI MOSAICI
Since 1900,Timeless Craftsmanship. Bespoke surfaces in artistic mosaics, terrazzo and pebble stone projects.
Q: On the occasion of Milan Design Week, with “Back to the Future” Fantini Mosaici inaugurates the space that will become its first showroom in Italy later this year. What prompted the idea of creating this visual experience where mosaic art plays the lead role?
EF:?Thinking of the close interrelation between our world and that of art, we thought of recreating a museum concept in this space, a gallery where art-related events will take place over time. For the idea we started from the foundations, from our core business, mosaic and terrazzo work, interpreted in a contemporary and unusual language. To achieve this goal, we asked a young architects' studio to help us find a fresh approach to express these ancient techniques and these noble materials.

Q: The installation entrusted to AB+AC Architects of Arianna Bavuso and Andre Chedid brings us on a journey through time with a technique that has such ancient origins: to what future does it take us?
EF:?The project by Arianna Bavuso and Andre Chedid's (AB+AC Architects) shows how traditional workmanship can communicate something new even to the new generations. Innovation is paramount, but we cannot forget that at the core of all our work is the human factor.?This is why we explore the world of culture with keen interest and promote various projects with art and trade schools to build the future together with the young.
Q: What projects is the company going to be working on in the coming months??
EF:?After the April event, we plan to start working on the project that will give the space in Foro Buonaparte its definitive shape. The showroom will be a special place, a welcoming venue, which will tell guests coming from the world over about our love of materials, our heritage of skills and knowledge, craftsmanship, Italian quality, and the exclusive nature of our creations.
