The Convergence Of Personal Wellness And Entrepreneurial Success
Suppose you were to choose between your health and wealth. What would be your choice? Okay, before you answer—because obviously, both are important—what if you found out they are interconnected? Would you change your lifestyle?
The truth is, your health is key to success in your entrepreneurial journey. Good health could make you stack in more dollars, and vice versa. However, in the quest for personal income security, profit growth and the hunger to make more cash, we often forget about the importance of our well-being, and that neglect can ironically lead to worse performance of our business.
When at the peak of your health, you are more focused and energetic and make better decisions that bring more money to your business. Why would you then overlook your wellness while trying to prosper as an entrepreneur?
Poor health means fewer profits.
Entrepreneurship is not a piece of cake; it can adversely affect both physical and mental well-being if your life is unbalanced. This is because of the time and pressure involved in making hard decisions or the stress of seeing your hard-invested cash not bringing any returns.
So, in a bid to make things right, entrepreneurs can lose sight of what’s important and overextend themselves.
Incidentally, spending all your energy on business affects other areas of life. Spending more time at work will leave you deprived of rest and with less time to rejuvenate. Thinking only about the business might make you stressed and cranky, especially on bad days. And don’t even forget about how being absorbed in work alone puts a strain on your relationship and good nutrition.
Not surprisingly, in good time all these will start affecting your business because your well-being and that of the business are interconnected. Again, your entrepreneurial success largely depends on your good health. Sickness and pain will affect productivity, and that often affects our relationships; for example, it may lead to problems with your spouse, clients and even yourself.
You will spend much energy thinking about your problems and start making poor business decisions. Ignoring your well-being while trying to make cash will eventually lead you to health problems caused by stress, fatigue and so on. And with poor well-being, your performance and decision-making as a solopreneur will be poor.
If the business starts seeing losses because you are not in the ultimate position to take care of it, do you know what happens? More stress due to financial problems, more relationship problems...

Is there a way out? Of course there is!
Improve your personal wellness.
Apart from financial success, your business should lead to your personal fulfillment, which can only be achieved with both profitability and a balance in the other areas of life. Improving your personal wellness will improve your business because you will be in a better position to make important decisions. While it might seem difficult, incorporate the following and see the difference:
? Proper nutrition: Despite how busy your business seems to make you, make time for meals and eat right. Consume healthy dishes during your designated meal times. Better nutrition will keep you healthy and give you the energy to work more efficiently. Make eating time habitual and you won’t have to forget about good nutrition.
? Exercise: If all you do is work and eat, you might grow overweight, especially if your work is not physical and does not involve a lot of movement. Even with your busy schedule, plan workout time. Exercise makes you feel more focused and motivated and able to make better decisions and work more efficiently, leading to better results.
Besides, exercise teaches you to master strength and be tough even when you don’t feel like it. This is a useful trait to apply to the business. Working out can also make you healthier, which is a plus for your well-being.
? Sleep: Entrepreneurs can get so caught up in the running and decision-making side of the business that they end up neglecting their sleep. Proper sleep is key to the well-being of your body and mind. A rested mind makes important decisions more easily and is in a better position to come up with new ideas. You will be alert and able to control your emotions easily when things seem to go against your plans. Rest is also critical to your body’s well-being and you will not spend your day tired and restless.
You cannot rule out the importance of your wellness to your business success. Only when the body and mind are healthy can you perform your best and contribute at the highest level to the growth of your business. Therefore, don't concentrate too much on—or even worry too much about—only your entrepreneurship, since that most likely will be at the expense of your health. The two go hand in hand. Make time to eat healthily, exercise and sleep enough.
