Convergence is KEY

Convergence is KEY

While being part of any team we often would have had different point of view about the team’s salient cultural attributes. With my experience there emerges two kinds of team- with good convergence (views more closely aligned team members) and poor convergence (rarely an agreement among members of team).

Often have thought about the subject. In my experience the hurdles are: Poor team building (even phases in which team has been formed or people have been grouped together), maturity of all concerned and most common but often ignored trait of experienced professionals – ego.

Recently, when I witnessed the same gave birth to an idea which ideally should be ingrained with all Team leaders working for a common goal. The simple rule is:

?

“If there are Silos at Top, there is Chaos at bottom.
If there is Alignment at top, there is Adherence at bottom”

?

Simply put together: If as leaders of team there are Silos at top with task being left upon junior members – expect ‘Chaos’ as you still are holding decision making with you. No matter what, in such situations members of team will often engage in corridor discussions thereby wasting time discussing non-alignment among their leaders’.

But, if leaders of team can reflect an aligned view often- it helps drive better and faster decision making and drives agility of team. Importantly reduces chance of any heartburn among members of the team.
